Yamunotri Temple Opening and Closing Date

Opening Date: The Yamunotri Temple typically opens for devotees in April-May. However, the Char Dham Temple Committee determines the specific dates for the opening of the temple in consultation with the priests. A religious ceremony takes place, and the priests consult the Hindu Panchang to finalize the opening dates of the Yamunotri Temple. Based on astrological considerations, these dates may vary with a focus on aligning with the month of Baisakh’s third lunar day. This day called Akshay Tritiya, falls within Baisakh’s Shukla Paksha, making it extremely significant for Hindus.

Closing Date: Every year, the Yamunotri temple closes from October- November. However, the Char Dham temple Committee decides the dates of the closing after consulting the priests. A religious ceremony is conducted and the Hindu Panchang is followed to decide the closing dates of the Yamunotri temple.

Gangotri Temple Opening and Closing Date

Opening Date: The opening dates of the Gangotri Temple vary for astrological reasons. However, it is near or on the third lunar day of the Baisakh month (Akshay Tritiya which falls in Baisakh’s Shukla Paksha). For Hindus, this day is considered to be very auspicious. It is believed that magnificence and good luck are brought when the portals open on this day.

Closing Date: Gangotri Temple is typically closed in the month of November for the pilgrims. A religious ceremony is conducted during the closing of the Gangotri Temple. The Gangotri Temple is closed for the winter to the public on the day following Deepawali. This event marks the start of the Char Dham shrine closure for the winter season. Goddess Ganga’s idol is transported during this time of the year to the nearby Mukhba village, where the devotees worship her throughout the winter months.

Kedarnath Temple Opening and Closing Date

Opening Date: The opening date of the Kedarnath Temple is determined through celestial calculations and ancient rituals. This sacred event has a close association with the auspicious day of Akshay Tritiya. The exact opening date is declared officially during the Maha Shivaratri’s celebration. The opening date is decided by calculating the favorable celestial alignments for the reopening of the temple.

Closing Date: The Kedarnath Temple typically closes post-Diwali celebration on the occasion of Bhai Dooj. On this auspicious day, the doli of Kedar Baba is led by the Garhwal Band. Badrinath Temple Opening and Closing Date

Opening Date: Every year on the day of Basant Panchami Badrinath Temple’s opening date is decided. The exact time and date of the opening of Badrinath Temple will be officially announced on the day of Basant Panchami on 2nd Feb 2025.
