Significance of Badrinath Temple

Badrinath Temple is believed to be one of the holiest sites in Uttarakhand. It is renowned for its mysticism and greatness. History of Badrinath Temple

It is believed that Adi Shankaracharya originally established the temple. Adi Sankara is an Indian theologist and extraordinary scholar, who took Sanyas at the young age of 14. The temple has undergone. In 1803 after the Himalayan earthquake, significant damage was experienced by the temple, and was rebuilt by Jaipur’s King. It is one of the five sacred destinations of India. There are various legends that are associated with the temple, which have been mentioned in Vedic texts.

Another legend says that in this region Lord Vishnu went into deep meditation. Because of this, he did not know about the extreme climatic conditions and Goddess Lakshmi spread above him to protect him from the adverse weather conditions.

Another legend says that when in Badrinath Parvati and Lord Shiva were in meditation, Lord Vishnu disguised himself as a small boy and asked for the shrine so that he could meditate. Knowing the fact he was Lord Vishnu, Shiva, and his consort had to stay at Kedarnath.

Best Time to Visit Badrinath

Badrinath remains closed from November to April for six months. The ideal time to visit Badrinath is from May to June (summer season). During this time, the ranges are around 18 degrees Celsius making it comfortable and pleasant. September-October which typically falls post-monsoon season is also a good time to visit Badrinath.
