The best time to embark on the sacred Yamunotri Gangotri Do Dham Yatra is unambiguously in May & June and September & October. In the former period, you’ll find sunny weather – ideal for sightseeing and temple tours. In the latter, you’ll observe pleasant atmospheres and lush valleys, fresh off of the monsoon season. Moreover, in this window, you’ll find hotel prices to be a lot more reduced!
We advise against going on the Gangotri Yamunotri Yatra during monsoon season (July- August) as there’s a constant risk of landslides and massive road blockages. You’ll find roads to be slippery, and visiting the shrines would be an arduous as well as a risky task. In winter, the shrines will be closed owing to heavy snowfall, making the Do Dham Yatra impossible.
