Summer (May - June)

April, May, and June are ideal for visiting Kedarnath as the weather remains comfortable, pleasant, and ideal for sightseeing. During these months the average temperature is around 17- 30 degrees Celsius. However, since this is the peak season you should book accommodation beforehand and carry enough woollen clothes.

Monsoon (July - August)

In July, monsoons in Kedarnath begin and end in mid-September. The monsoons bring occasional landslides and heavy rainfall making it not that ideal for visiting the town. You’re recommended not to visit Kedarnath during these months as the roads are inaccessible and weather conditions are not ideal for sightseeing.

Winter (November - April)

Due to heavy snowfall, Kedarnath is inaccessible during the winter (November to March) as the roads are completely blocked. The temperatures during these months drop below sub-zero levels. Every inch of the town is piled up in sheets of snow during these months.

How to Reach?

You can reach Kedarnath Temple only by a trek from Gaurikund which is considered to be the last motorable road from Kedarnath. You can also opt for a helicopter yatra.

By Flight

Jolly Grant Airport (Dehradun) is the nearest airport to Gaurikund, from where you can easily hire a taxi to Gaurikund. Gaurikund is considered to be the last road heading to Kedarnath, after which you will have to trek (or take a palanquin/horse ride) for about 14 km distance. However, helicopter services are also available at Dehradun.

By Road

Gaurikund connects Kedarnath and Rudraprayag. It is well connected to most of the nearby cities including Haridwar, Pauri, Rishikesh, Uttarkashi, Tehri, Dehradun, Srinagar, Chamoli, etc, by buses and cabs. You can find buses from ISBT Kashmiri Gate in Delhi to Rishikesh and Srinagar. You can also hire buses and taxis from Uttarakhand’s major destinations.

Day 1 :Haridwar to Guptkashi (07 to 08 Hrs/210Kms)

Today you will arrive at Haridwar and meet our representative who will make all the arrangements to transfer you to Guptkashi. You’ll embark on a picturesque journey passing the Mandakini and Bhagirathi rivers. Once you have arrived in Guptkashi you will check in to your pre-booked hotel and have a tasty dinner. Post dinner you’ll have a soothing sleep in your room.

Day 2 :Guptkashi – Kedarnath (16kms Trek One Way & 6kms By Road)

Wake up early in the morning and have a delicious breakfast. Post breakfast you will travel to Kedarnath. You can opt for two options. You can either undertake a helicopter ride at an additional cost or undertake a challenging trek if you’re physically fit for the journey. You can seek the blessings of Lord Kedarnath and attend the evening Aarti. You will then return to your pre-reserved hotel and have an overnight stay.

Day 3 :Kedarnath – Guptkashi (06kms by Road & 16kms Trek)
